I don’t know why that should harm the roots but from my experience the Aloe Vera plant will never recover.

It’s on vacation that we seem to have the most scrapes , we get sunburned, we slip and cut and bruise ourselves , we get bit by insects because we are sitting out late on verandas. I always take a thick Aloe Vera leaf with me from home wrapped in cloth or cling film. Then I cut sections off to treat myself and others with the gel as I go along. It is crucial to get the gel onto the skin as quickly as possible. It will immediately sooth and disinfect.

For internal problems stomach upsets etc I prefer to buy commercial Aloe Vera products as they remove the potentially harmful Aloin I buy either Forever Living products or directly from a store at Holland & Barrett. I particularly like to drink their Cranberry flavored Aloe Vera as the natural taste is a dull and discouraging.

I was treating two late season insect bites with Aloe Vera gel freshly cut from a plant, at the same time and more embarrassingly I was treating a sore patch caused by wearing a too tight underpants.

Anyway for some time I’ve been bothered by a numbness in an ear lobe which comes and goes which I’ve always blamed on swimming. I’ve mentioned it to my doctor but he didn’t seem too interested. Thinking it might sooth my ear lobe at least I rubbed some spare gel on my ear and to my astonishment the numbness went completely away, I mean how could it do that?

I’ve been in the wars recently and managed to extensively graze myself while cutting a tree down in the garden. It seems to be really important to treat grazes and burns quickly and I’d fallen practically next to one of Aloe Vera plants so was able to apply some gel virtually immediately. I knew it had been effective because the graze I hadn’t noticed and thus not treated started to sting like crazy.

(Disclaimer: I have no medical training please consult your doctor as necessary)
